CROWLEY – The girls’ prep basketball regular season ended Monday, but for five local teams, preparation continues for Thurday’s opening round of the playoffs.

Midland, Iota, Notre Dame, Northside Christian and Church Point all made the playoffs and will be in action Thursday in their respective leagues’ bi-district round of the playoffs.

Midland earned the highest seed of all five teams, entering the Class B playoffs as the No. 8 seed.

The Lady Rebels, who finished the regular season with a mark of 22-14, will play host to No. 25 seeded Shongaloo at 6 o’clock. Admission for all will be $6.

The winner of that contest will play again Monday against either No. 9 Holden or No. 24 Stanley.

Iota (23-11), the No. 16 seed in Class AAA, will also be at home Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs will play host to No. 17 Avoyelles. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. and admission is also $6.

The winner of that game gets either top-seeded Jennings or No. 32 seed J.S. Clark on Monday.

Notre Dame and Church Point will be on the road for the first round.

The No. 21-seeded Lady Pios (17-9) will travel to Prairie Rhonde Thursday to take on district foe Northwest at 7 p.m. while the No. 19 seeded Lady Bears (18-10) will travel to Patterson for a 6 p.m. contest.

The winner of the Notre Dame/Northwest contest will take on either Wossman or St. Charles in second round while the winner of the Church Point/Patterson game will be pitted against either Capitol or Cecilia.

Northside Christian (3-18) earned the No. 19 seed in Class C and will travel to Monroe to take on Claiborne Christian in the first round Thursday.

The winner of that contest will take on either No. 3 seed Starks or No. 30 seed Monticello Monday in the regional round.
