Rayne High’s wrestlers who placed fifth overall in team standings at the Division III State Tournament were, first row, from left, Sarah Dupont, Amanda Mire, Sarah Stelly and Brooke Mire; second row, Brennan Fontenot, Andre Falcon, Jacob Stelly, Hunter Hanks and Bryar Barousse; third row, Coach John Chevalier, Daytn Constantin, Shelby Thibodeaux, Adam Menard, Trever Carriere, Jake Cormier and Coacj Stefan Bergeron; back row, Jamil Rogers, Billy Thibodeaux, Michael Cormier, John Reynolds, Keavin Richard and Austin Meche.
Of the Wolves attending, three placed third in their weight class during the tournament, including Adam Menard, Shelby Thibodeaux and Trevor Carriere.
Menard, 135 lbs., won his final at the 3:38 click for his third place finish.
Thibodeaux won third place in his 140-pound weight class with a technical, topping off a 16-0 point lead.
Carriere won his third place match at 171 lbs. with an 8-1 decision on the day.
Placing fourth in their weight class for the Wolves were Bryar Babineaux at 130 lbs., Jacob Stelly of 130 lbs., and Jermil Rogers at 189 lbs.
Scoring a fifth place finish in his weight class of 145 lbs. was Michael Cormier while John Reynolds placed sixth at 152 lbs.
As expected, Brusly captured the team championship winning eight of the possible 14 weight divisions. Second was claimed by North Vermilion, third by John Curtis, and Evangel nabbed fourth place.
