GRANT – Midland’s playoff run came to an abrupt halt Thursday evening when the Lady Rebels squared off with Class B’s top-seeded Fairview Lady Panthers.

Fairview, winners of the last two Class B state titles, jumped out to commanding 52-16 halftime advantage before crusing to a 70-41 quarterfinal victory over the Lady Rebels.

Midland finished the season with a 24-14 record.

Fairview will now take on Weston in the semifinals at Louisiana Tech on Wednesday at 5 o’clock.

Fairview’s Brittany Maddox poured in 12 of her game-high 30 points in the first quarter to help push the Lady Panthers out to a 23-6 advantage.

Maddox continued her hot streak in the second quarter, outscoring Midland on her own, 14-10.

Mdiland scored just four points in the third quarter before outscoring Fairview 21-6 in the fourth.

Courtney LeJeune scored 14 points for Midland and Carisa Richard added 12.

Also contributing were Sharae Primeaux with eight points, Patricia Garrie with five and Mollie Vincent with two.
