MAMOU – The Lady Demons took their first District 6-2A loss of the season Tuesday night, as the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers battled their way to a 3-0 win.
Pine Prairie took the lead in the top of the first inning with Emily Marcantel’s RBI base hit.
In the top of the fourth, Elizabeth Briley drove in two insurance runs for the Lady Panthers.
Courtney Townsend (2-0) pitched the win for Pine Prairie, giving up no runs on five hits and three walks, while striking out five batters.
Starting pitcher Cydni James took the loss for Mamou, giving up one earned run on a hit and two walks, while striking out two batters in the first two innings of the game.
With the loss, Mamou drops to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in district. Pine Prairie rises to 9-6-1 overall and 2-0-1 in district.
Both teams will compete in the Sulphur Tournament this weekend.
