“Keep Louisiana Beautiful” is a non-profit organization committed to funding creative litter prevention programs that emphasize awareness, education, enforcement, and clean-ups.
Ville Platte’s grant application was funded at 100 percent, and the city will receive $5,196.
The city’s beautification plan includes continued clean-up of dilapidated housing, abandoned vehicles, and neglected properties; participation in the “Cleanest City Contest;” conducting “Community Treasures Day,” a community-wide garage that encourages recycling of household items; continuing its educational programs conducted by Simon Squirrel and Lucy Litter-Free in local public, private and parochial schools; beautifying parks with additional benches; and other improvements to the aesthetic beauty of the city.
Mayor Bill Jeanmard stated “We are grateful to ‘Keep Louisiana Beautiful’ for assisting us in improving the appearance and cleanliness of our city. This was a very competitive grant, and The City of Ville Platte is proud to have been selected.”
