The Ville Platte Dixie Youth Aces continued their undefeated tear through the league with a 5-2 victory over the Dots. The win puts the Aces at 5-0 on the year with only a handful of games left in the first half of the season.

The Aces were the home team in the contest. They grabbed three runs in the top of the first inning. The barrage came with two outs. Daniel Ortego walked and scored when Evan Mire hit a triple. Dylan Fontenot pushed a run home when he reached base on an error. A double from Ricky Woodruff brought Fontenot in to score and make it a 3-0 ball game. The Dots answered back with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Willie Doucet reached base on a single. He crossed the dish on a double from Tyran Leday.

The Aces found a way to answer back quickly. They would pick up two more runs in the top of the second inning. With one out, a double from Andy Lafleur got things started for the Aces. Lafleur came home to score on a single from Phillip Vidrine. Later in the inning, a single from Daniel Ortego pushed Vidrine across the plate.

The Aces didn’t answer until the bottom of sixth inning. With one out, Leday reached base on a fielders choice. A double from Nick LaHaye pushed Leday home, to make it a 5-2 ball game. Despite getting some more runners on base, the Dots could not muster a run across the plate.

Andy Lafleur got the win on the hill and Phillip Vidrine got the save. Lafleur fanned seven batters and allowed just two hits. Vidrine allowed two hits and fanned one.
