Interment was in the Mallalieu Methodist Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of St. Martinville, he passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Lafayette following a long illness.
Survivors include two brothers, Hilliard Porter (Kathy Porter) of Houston, Texas, and Ronald (Margaret) Porter of Fairburn, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hilliard Porter; mother, Myrtle M. Porter; and a sister, Evelyn P. George.
Pallbearers were friends and family members.
The Golden Meadows Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
