A special 50th wedding anniversary celebration was held August 1, 2009 at the KC Home in Mire in honor of Kermit and Peggy Cormier of Rayne.

The 5 p.m. special event was hosted by the couple’s children, Christine Guilbeaux and Lacey Mouton, both of Rayne.

They were also joined by their grandchildren, Claire Guilbeaux of Broussard, Jordan Guilbeaux of Tulsa, Okla., Meghan Guil-beaux of Rayne, Gabby Mouton of Rayne, and Lexie Mouton of Lafayette.

They are also the great-grandparents of two, Kristian Guilbeaux and Makensie Camp-bell.

For the special event, Mrs. Cormier wore a two-piece ensemble in a gold tone, while Mr. Cormier was attired in black slacks and light blue dress shirt.

Approximately 50 family members and guests attended from the Acadiana area and enjoyed a delicious meal of barbecued chicken and pork along with all the trimmings.

The special cake table held a white, two-layered white confection topped with a gold “50” numeral.

Mrs. Cormier is the former Peggy Sonnier, daughter of Wallace Sonnier and the late Sadie Sonnier.

Mr. Cormier is the son of Odette Martin Cormier and the late Earnest Cormier.

They were married during a wedding ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. Attendants were Hazel Thibodeaux and Jesse Comeaux.
