The body of a woman found dumped near the westbound Interstate 10 Egan exit has been identified as that of a 27-year old Jennings woman, Necole Guillory.

Guillory’s body was discovered at 2:26 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, between mile marker 72 and 73 by a worker mowing grass along the interstate.

Guillory was reported missing by her mother to the Jennings Police Department just half an hour before her body was discovered.

Law authorities confirmed Guillory was murdered, but declined to reveal the cause of her death.

Guillory may be the eighth victim of a series of unsolved murders of young Jeff Davis women since 2005. She was the mother of two.

On Thursday, Aug. 20, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Ricky Edwards, Jr., issued a statement regarding the investigation surrounding the discovery of the woman’s body.

He has indicated that Guillory was last seen near the same area as other recent homicide victims. Edwards stopped short of linking Guillory’s murder with the other cases.

He reported investigators from Acadia, Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis Parishes, as well as Jennings Police Department, Acadia and Calcasieu Coroner’s Office, 15th and 31st District Attorney’s Offices, LA State Police, LA Attorney General’s Office and the FBI are aggressively working together to solve this recent homicide.

Sheriff Edwards said it would be premature at this stage and possibly detrimental to the investigation to make any statements or draw any conclusions.

Additional press releases will be made as the investigation continues and more information becomes available, added the Jeff Davis Sheriff.

Guillory’s body was taken to the coroner’s office in Lake Charles for examination.
