The Rayne High Lady Wolves Volleyball Team is out to a good start for the 2009 season, tallying a 3-1 record thus far.

The Lady Wolves dropped their first match of the season last week against Breaux Bridge in four close games. Leading the offense for the Lady Wolves were Carolyne Bell, Caitlyn Peltier, Taylor Venable and Mariel Meche. Defensively, Kayla Fontenot, Annie Simoneaux and Erin Savoy led stats.

The Lady Wolves also captured a four-game win over Jennings. Taylor Venable led offensively with 13 kills, followed closely by Caitlyn Peltier with nine, Mariel Meche with six, Annie Simoneaux with five, Carolyn Bell with four, and Brooke Mire chipping in one. Setting things up were Kayla Fontenot and Erin Savoy, with Sara Hollingsworth helping on defense.

The Lady Wolves also needed four games to claim a win over Westminster. Net play was led by Erin Savoy, Taylor Venable, Carolyn Bell and Mariel Meche. Leading defensive stats were Haley Cormier, Annie Simoneaux, Shelby LeBlanc and Shirekia Sias. Helping on offense were Haley Habetz and Brooke Mire.

In their opening contest of the season, the Lady Wolves claimed a four-game win over Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau. Setting up the offense were Kayla Fontenot and Erin Savoy, with kills led by Annie Simoneaux, Mariel Meche, Taylor Venable and Brooke Mire.
