Rayne took wins over Church Point, Opelousas, Westlake and DeQuincy, enroute to the championsip game against Jennings.

The Rayne High Lady Wolves Volleyball Team improved their seaso tally this weekend as they took home the first place trophy from the 2009 Crowley High Volleyball Invitational.

The Lady Wolves began the tournament with a tw-game win over Church Point, seeing Mariel Meche, Taylor Venable and Annie Simoneaux lead offensively.

Their second-round win came over Opelousas as Kayla Fontenot, Caitlyn Peltier, Erin Savoy and Shelby LeBlanc led stats.

In day-two action, Rayne High capture a three-game win over Westlake, led by Carolyn Bell, Erin Savoy, Taylor Venable and Caitlyn Peltier.

In semi-final action, the Lady Wolves took a two-game win over DeQuincy. Leading stats on offense were Caitlyn Peltier, Mariel Meche and Taylor Venable, while the defense was led by Kayla Fontenot, Annie Simoneaux, Erin Savoy and Shelby leBlanc.

Rayne met Jennings in the finals, downing the Lady Bulldogs in two games for the championship. Leading offensive charts were Annie Simoneaux, Caitlyn Peltier, Mariel Meche and Carolyn Bell. On defense, Kayla Fontenot, Erin Savoy, Taylor Venable, Shelby LeBlanc and Haley Cormier excelled.

In Tuesday action, the Lady Wolves traveled to Beau Chene and improved their season record to 9-2 with a win.

The Lady Wolves was slated to travel to Westminster Wednesday, followed by the Carencro Tournament this weekend.
