
Schools in Rayne and surrounding communities will observe Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, with special programs and events, announces Rodney J. Trahan, Americanism chairman for American Legion Post No. 77.
• Branch Elementary School, 8 a.m. program in school gym.
• Rayne Catholic Elementary School, 8:20 a.m. Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
• South Rayne Elmentary, 9 a.m. in school gym.
• Martin Petitjean Elementary, 9 a.m. in Commons Area.
• Rayne High School, 9:30 a.m. in North Gym.
• Central Rayne Kindergarten, 10:30 a.m. in the play area.
• Armstrong Middle School, 1:30 p.m. in school gym.
•Mire Elementary School, 1:30 p.m. in the school gym.
St. Joseph Church will sound its church bells at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11.
In addition, Assumption Catholic Church in Mire will honor veterans during a reception in the church hall following the 4 p.m. Mass.
St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove will celebrate a Mass in honor of war veterans on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 9 a.m.
Area veterans are encouraged to attend any of these school programs
Residents and business places are also asked to fly the American flag on Veterans Day.
