The Acadia AgCenter in Crowley has scheduled two pre-holiday advice sessions for parish residents.
The first session will demonstrate the technique for deboning a turkey or chicken for the holiday season.
Michael Pastor will demonstrate the technique on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the AgCenter between 1 and 3 p.m. In addition, Agent Adrianne Vidrine will talk about turkey selection and safety.
Participants are asked to bring a fryer chicken, knife and cutting board to the session for hands-on instruction. Each person will leave with a deboned chicken and a USDA Safe Food handbook.
On Thursday, Nov. 19, Adrianne Vidrine will host a fun workshop designed to help participants to prepare for the holidays on a shoestring budget. She will offer shopping strategies and ideas for inexpensive homemade gifts.
To register for either or both workshop, call 788-8821 or email avidrine@agctr.lsu.edu.
