JulyFete

Despite early downpours, the JulyFete activities of Saturday went on without a hitch, drawing excellent crowds.

The start of the activities were met with a thunderous rain, but skies soon cleared up and everyone danced the night away before a spectacular fireworks display that brought things to a close.

Qualifying

Wednesday marks the start of qualifying for the October 2 general elections. Qualifying will be from Wednesday through Friday.

Candidates have been announcing their plans for several weeks now and it looks like there will be several heated races. Those races along with the unexpected surprises will make this week interesting as we seek who falls in line for what office.

Best of luck to all of the candidates.

Field Day

The folks over at the LSU Rice Researh Station have their annual Field Day down to a science. Of course, after 101 years they should be pretty familiar with the activities. We are amazed how in control and organized things are year after year. Rain, heat, sunshine, fog, it doesn’t matter. It seem Dr. Steve Linscombe and his crew are prepared for anything and truly their show “will go on.”

Nice job folks!
