A search warrant executed Friday, July 9, resulted in the seizure of $18,000 worth of high grade marijuana, reports Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly.

Rayne police officers, along with the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, executed the search warrant at the home of Wilson Ceasar, 29, and Sylvia Mouton, 30, 606 Bailey St.

During the search, a shipping container holding 256 grams of high potency marijuana was discovered.

Police believe the marijuana is being smuggled from Canada via California.

The high potency marijuana reportedly fetches a very high street price. The confiscated marijuana was valued at over $18,000.

Both Wilson Ceasar and Sylvia Mouton were charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana over 200 grams and Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.

Under Louisiana law, the penalty for the possession of more than 200 grams of marijuana is a minimum sentence of 10 years.

Chief Stelly said, “The potency seen in this and other local seizures is a big concern due to the extreme level of impairment being seen from its use.” Chief Stelly added his “main concern is teenagers and vehicle operators having access to this.”

Also present in the house during the search were Dwight Livings, 30, of Rayne and Trameka Mitchell, 25, of Lake Charles.

Livings was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana and is being held without bond by the Department of Probation and Parole. Mitchell was charged with Prohibited Acts – Schedule IV for illegally possessing Alprazolam tablets.

As a result of executing the search warrant and the subsequent investigation, the Rayne Police Department seized a 1995 Toyota Camry, a 1999 GMC truck and $3,484 dollars in U.S. currency.
