Mrs. Barabin was indeed demanding, but she was one of the best of my English teachers. As a matter of fact, a great deal of Mrs. Barabin's style was part of my style. I have often thought of her over the years! I wish I could have told her that her memory helped me to survive 34 1/2 in the Lafayette Parish School System! What my students saw in me is what I saw in Mrs. Barabin way back in approximately l961. When my students would tell me that they could not get up and deliver a poem, I would say, "Sweetie, if I could do it for Mrs. Barabin, you most certainly can do it for me!" Thanks, Mrs. Barabin! Rest in peace!!
