RAYNE – For promoter “Bad” Chad Broussard, it will be his biggest fight card yet.

For Broussard’s understudy, “Rock Hard Mighty” Mason Menard, it will be his toughest test to date.

And it all gets underway Saturday at the Civic Center when Menard headlines Broussard’s professional fight card entitled “The Heat is On”.

Menard, the Louisiana lightweight champion, headlines the event and will take on Missouri lightweight champion Robbie “Pea Shooter” Cannon in a 10 round bout for the vacant UBO All-American title.

“This will probably be the best fight in the past 5-10 years within the state of Louisiana,” said Broussard. “We are looking forward to a war.

“I feel like this fight will be a huge milestone in the careers of both fighters.”

Menard, who has 77 amateur bouts under his belt as well as eight Golden Gloves championships, is 11-1 as a professional with nine knockouts.

Cannon, with 150 amateur bouts and six Missouri Golden Gloves championships to his name, enters with a record of 12-5 with six knockouts.

“I am excited about the opportunity to fight for the UBO All-America title,” said Cannon. “I have been training very hard and will be coming to win. It is going to be a good fight.”

There are six other bouts on the card, including a fight between Rayne’s Todd “Amazin” Manuel (3-0) and Dominique Azez.

Tickets for the explosive night of fights can be purchased at Red’s, Planet Nutrition and Cajun Fitness or online at www.boxncar.com.
