CROWLEY - Donald Eugene Ross was born Sept. 4, 1953, in Jennings. He was the second of five children born to the late Ellastien Washington and Eugene Ross. On July 31, 2010, God called upon his beloved child, Donald, to return home. Donald graduated from Crowley High School in 1972 and within that same year, he joined the U.S. Army. Donald served our beloved country until 1975.

Donald leaves to mourn his passing but cherish his memories: his foster mother, Catherine Thibo of Crowley; his son, Donald Ross, Jr. of Newark, N.J.; three sisters, Debbie Ross (Jerome) of Crowley, Terry Mathews of Houston and Emma Brazier (Charles) of Hanford, Calif.; two brothers, Michael Ross of Los Angeles and Joe Gantt (Ree) of Oxnard, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellastien Washington; father, Eugene Ross; a brother, Ronald Ross, Sr.; and his foster parents, Josephine Hannah Gantt and Roderick Toe Gantt.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Greater Love Family Worship Church, located at 1001 North Avenue E, on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 8 a.m.

The funeral will be conducted by Bishop Louis Dugar. Interment will follow at West Crowley Cemetery. Repast services at American Legion Post 56.
