“Investigators were contacted this morning regarding suspicious circumstance at a residence on May Street within the city of Crowley,” stated Chief of Police K.P. Gibson. “Our investigators responded to the residence and discovered the body of a white female to be lying inside the residence and she was not responsive” stated Chief Gibson. That female was later identified as 67-year-old Barbara Savant.
Police then confirmed that the victim was deceased.
After pursuing several leads during the afternoon and into the evenig Friday, 28-year-old Phillip Paul Credeur of Crowley was arrested without incident in Rayne late Friday evening. He was charged with second degree murder and placed in the Acadia parish Jail.
Earlier in the day Credeur was sought by Crowley Police as a “person of interest” in the case for questioning.

Chief Gibson said that his officers are continuing to work the case and additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
As of press time there was no bond on Credeur.
