The first arrest stemmed from an undercover operation when an agent purchased narcotics from a suspected drug dealer. When all parties were taken down it was found that one of the suspects involved had active warrants with the Task Force for drug related crimes.
Shawn Lalande, (DOB 12/21/79) of 5044 Perpetual Road in Maurice, was arrested for Distribution of Marijuana. He was subsequently arrested on a charge of contempt of court. His total bond was set at $29,824.
In another incident the Task Force while out conducting street level sales and disruption, obtained information that Niesha Trahan (DOB 7/8/85) of 317 S. Miles Street in Abbeville was located at a local establishment.
Trahan was wanted for distribution of a schedule III narcotic and Schedule IV narcotic (Lortab and Xanex). She was subsequently arrested and bond was set at $10,000.
Sheriff Mike Couvillon, Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza, Abbeville Chief of Police Tony Hardy, Erath Police Chief Gerald Hebert and Erath Mayor George Dupuis commends the Narcotics Task Force for a job well done.
