Ernest Baker Reed, Sr. retired as an engineer for the Water Department in the city of Houston after 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. Ernest was known as someone who would spread his gift of love and life to everyone in his presence.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife of 59 years, Loretta Yokum Reed; as well as two of the children he nurtured, Donnell Reed Sherman of Houston, and Kenneth Reed of Crowley; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and also nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Reed, Sr. and Elnora Grimm Reed; two daughters, Edna Faye Henderson and Freda Reed Ballard; two sons, Ernest Baker Reed, Jr. and Craig L. Reed, Sr.; five brothers; and one sister.
Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of the arrangements.
