Church Point tops Northwest

CHURCH POINT -The Church Point High Bears scored 40 points in the first half on their way to a 47-22 victory over the Northwest High Raiders in District 4-3A action here Friday night.

The Bears went up 14-0 in the first quarter. Von Duplechain ran for a 3-yard touchdown, and Desmond Bellard caught a 54-yard scoring pass from Ty Leger. Brock Latiolais booted the PATs.

In the second quarter, Jacob Boone scored on a 32-yard run and Zack Quibodeaux added a touchdown with a 25-yard run. Duplechain pitched in with a 24-yard touchdown run, and Dennis Guerrero added a 45-yard interception return. Latiolais made two PATs for 40-0 lead.

Northwest scored twice in the third quarter. Harry Synagal ran for a 4-yard touchdown, with Jeremy Winnfield running for the two-point conversion.

Later in the second quarter, Daniel Mitchell scored from 25 yard out, but the conversion run failed.

In the fourth, Winnfield returned a fumble 35 yards, with Synagal running for two points.

In the fourth quarter, Tanner Higginbotham returned a fumble 45 yards for a score, with Latiolais making the PAT.

Quibodeaux had 118 yards on 13 attempts. Duplechain rushed 8 times for 105 yards. Daniel Mitchell led Northwest with 83 yards in ten rushes.

Ty Leger hit four of six passes for 111 yards for the Bears.
